CHATTERBOX COFFEE BRANDING
THE PROJECT
Chatterbox Coffee is a fictional coffee shop I created and developed branding for. The culture and ideology behind Chatterbox Coffee is to encourage a sense of community and foster an inclusive, welcoming environment. I chose the word chatterbox because coffee shops are often places people go to commune with friends or with friendly baristas. For the brand identity, I wanted it to be modern and casual with bright colors that complement each other well.
THE PROCESS
The colors, terracotta orange, light olive green, and mustard yellow, are calm and warm. My typeface choices, Raleway and Arcana, are bold and modern and successfully represent the desired aesthetic.
For the logo, I concentrated on "box" in "chatterbox" by physically designing out three dimensional and two dimensional boxes. It felt too literal and didn't emulate my approach to the coffee shop's brand identity. Instead, I used a typographical logo layout that still gives off the idea of a box using the initials.
As for the different elements of the proposed shop, I wanted to create coffee bean bags, to-go coffee cups, and merchandise. For each piece, I made sure to stay true to the design toolkit for a cohesive theme. I also illustrated the coffee bag designs by hand, using one line drawings for a minimal and clean aesthetic. The fauna bag uses the butterfly imagery in my slogan (to be a social butterfly, echoing the concept of a chatterbox) while the flora illustrates the stages of growth of a coffee plant.
